January 1922 Motor Magazine & 1920’s Gas Pump Price Card
Offered for sale is this very rare January 1922 magazine titled Motor Magazine with 360 pages packed with hundreds of cars and motor parts and fantastic ads you'll love seeing for the first time. Also included is a cardboard Gas Pump Price Card which was either found on the gas pump, or on the window or door of the gas station. Listed below is each item and its condition:
1.) Gas Price Card made by the Rutledge Equipment Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. The gas stations were given a number of these cards with different prices for gas on the front and back. The cards were most likely found on the inside of the glass globe or window of a vintage gas station from the 1920's. The card measures 7¾" long x 5 3/8" wide. On one side the price is 23 & 4/10 cents a gallon or 23 & 6/10 cents a gallon. The card reads for one gallon of gas you pay 24 cents all the way up to $3.54 cents for 15 gallons of gas—-boy, we can only dream.**Condition: The card is clean and in very good condition.
2.) Motor Magazine/Catalog dated January 1922. If you were ever looking to increase your knowledge of the turn of the century automobiles, this magazine will no doubt do that. After the invention of the automobile possibly well over a hundred car companies sprang up across the country. Inside this magazine are dozens of the car manufacturers and pictures of the cars they created. Most car companies only lasted for a short time after Henry Ford introduced the Model T at a very low price. Only the very rich could afford luxury cars. Most independent car companies went out of business when Henry Ford started paying his employees a whole $5.00 a day. Listed below are a number of the automobiles found inside this magazine:

These are only a sample of the large amounts of automobiles found in the 360 pages of this fantastic car magazine. There are tons of ads for car parts and new inventions that improved the 1922 driving pleasure. Also there are over 20 pages and 300 cars listed showing their main technical details, specifications and equipment for all 1922 passenger cars.
**Condition: There is no front and back covers and the first six pages are missing. The first 24 pages have chipping, small-medium-and large tears, and crease marks along all the outer edges. The last 11 pages have chipping, small and medium tears, and crease marks at the top and bottom right corners. The remaining pages are in very good condition.
This Motor Magazine/Catalog is so fascinating to look at and read. While it may not have all its pages(missing six), it is still a great wealth of information about the early automobiles.
