The Ohio was the lead submarine of her class with Nuclear-Powered fleet ballistic missiles. After sea trials in the summer of 1981, the USS Ohio was delivered to the U.S. Navy on October 28th, 1981, and was finally commissioned for sea service on November 11, 1981.
"In each Submarine there are men who, in the hour of emergency or peril at sea, can turn to the other for all aspects of operation of their Submarine. They are the crew. They are the Ship. In WWII, 52 submarines and 3505 crew members were lost to enemy fire or were struck by friendly fire mistaken for enemy submarines."
"I can assure you that they went down fighting and that their brothers who survived them took a grim toll of our savage enemy to avenge their deaths," said Vice Admiral C.A. Lockwood, Jr. U.S.N. Commander Submarine Force 1943 through 1946.
A wonderful gift for any veteran that served or is serving on a submarine. Each medal is $12.00 and you may buy as many as you wish. God Bless Our Vets!!!!
