After 5 years of fighting and thousands of men and women losing their lives defending our country, the war in Europe is over. On Monday, May 7th, 1945, Germany's formal capitulation came at 2:41 am (French Time) in the red Reims schoolhouse, head-quarters of General Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allies of the west. The crowning triumph came just five years, eight months, and six days, after Hitler invaded Poland and declared war against peace loving countries.
