1945 WWII Yank Magazine & Sunday News Gen. Eisenhower Photo, & 1969 Ike..a Soldier's Crusade Book
Offered for sale is a WWII Era Yank The Army Weekly Magazine dated August 3, 1945—a front page with photo of General Dwight D. Eisenhower from the Sunday News, New York's Sunday Picture Newspaper dated September 16, 1945--and a book titled "Ike, a Soldier's Crusade". Below is a description and the condition of each item:
1)WWII Era Yank The Army Weekly Magazine dated August 3, 1945, Volume 4, No. 7. The Yank is an United States Homeland Edition which features on the front cover an aircraft carrier somewhere in the Pacific showing the 5 inch guns aimed high ready for any Japanese planes. The photo was taken by Sgt. Lonnie Wilson. In this issue is a great color picture of a smiling Dwight D. Eisenhower, General of the U.S. Army. In this issue are stories about The Blasting of Fort Drum, Jap Capture, Clean-Up on Okinawa, Houston Texas, Titian Experiment, Return to Mannheim, Railroads, Mail Call, Sgt. Joe Louis-Joe's Post War Plans, and a special Pin-Up, Twin Models of the Wilde Twins giving our fighting men two women to dream about while away from home.
*Condition of Yank Magazine: The front and back covers are in good- condition and the inside pages are in good condition. *Front Cover: wear, tears, and chipping along the spine, and two small tears along the right edge. *Back Cover: Tears along the spine, very minor chipping along the top and left edges, small crease marks at the top left corner. *Inside Pages: All the inside pages have a few tears along the spine edge.
2)A front page photo of Dwight D. Eisenhower as General of the U.S. Army from the Sunday News, New York's Sunday Picture Newspaper, dated September 16, 1945. This is only the front page and the back page of this Sunday News. All the inside pages are missing.
*Condition of Sunday News front and back pages: Fair condition. *Front Cover: There are tears along the spine, along the top edge, and along the right edge, a tiny piece missing from the top and bottom right front corners. *Back Cover: There are tears along the spine, along the top edge, along the left edge, and along the bottom edge, some stickiness along the top edge, a name written in pencil, and crease marks.
3)"Ike a Soldier's Crusade" soft cover Book which gives a detailed story with photos of Dwight D. Eisenhower from a Kansas farm boy to Liberator of Europe and President of the United States. The book was written by Lawrence Van Gelder, copyrighted in 1969, and published by Universal Publishing and Distributing Corporation of New York. The booklet has 64 pages with over 100 black and white photos of family members, WWII photos of General Eisenhower, and photos from November 6, 1957, when he was elected President of The United States.
*Condition of Book: The front and back covers are in good- condition. The inside pages are in very good condition. *Front Cover: wear and tears to the spine, tiny crease marks at the top and bottom right front corners, some surface scratching. *Back Cover: tiny and small crease marks at the top and bottom left back corners, some surface wear. *Inside pages: There are very light crease marks at the top and bottom right corners of some of the inside pages.
