During WWII, many people throughout the United States had a hobby of saving newspaper headlines. These WWII Era headlines are from 22 New York Herald Tribune Newspaper Front Pages from September of 1941. The papers are not complete...just page one and two. Most stories start with the headline on page one and may be completed on page one or on page two. However, there are a few headline stories that are completed on another page of the paper.
During WWII, the people of the United States relied on their hometown newspapers to keep them informed of how the war was going and the different battles that were taking place affecting their loved ones who were serving in the military. The reporters who wrote about what was happening overseas were held accountable for giving the facts and only the facts about the day to day battles that took place during WWII. Anything else would have been unacceptable. Listed below are the front page headlines from September of 1941 on the war in Europe in which the United States entered when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941:

**Condition of front page papers: Good to very good condition. Very clean. All of the papers have been neatly taped with transparent tape on all the tears and across most of the centers to prevent chipping along the center fold. Some of the articles on the front page are continued on the second page which is the back of the front page, and some aren't. I have to say though that the front page articles are given plenty of room and therefore most of the articles are on the front page.
If you're a big collector of WWII memorabilia, these will bring you hours of great reading. No politically correct bull here...just the honest facts of what our boys were up against. If a parent or grandparent served in the Armed Forces during WWII, these would certainly make a neat special gift or birthday present. To the Greatest Generation- God Bless!
