Splendid and rare uniform for a Cossack officer of the Imperial Russian Army.
It dates from the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th (up to the Communist revolution).
These outfits were Inspired by traditional Caucasian costumes very fashionable in the Russian cavalry in the 19th century.
The set consists of:
1/ A tcherkeska (long-sleeved coat) of Caucasian type in black wool.
2/ A beshmet (long-sleeved shirt) of Caucasian type in black cotton.
3/ A set of 20 gazieri (Caucasian cartridges / powder tubes), chiseled silver with their rare suspension chains also in silver.
4/ A Caucasian belt in leather and chiseled silver.
Very good overall condition. As it can be seen on the photographs, the color of the shirt, around the collar, turned from black to dark brown because of sun discoloration.
