This is a fine antique Sevres hand painted gilt porcelain portrait plate of Louis XIV ( 1638-1715 ). It has elaborate gilt scrollwork panels with bouquets of flowers. The artist has signed the plate but the signature is not entirely clear. The plate shines beautifully with the distinctive dark ‘ Sevres blue’ colour with striking gilt borders. The portrait of the king in royal attire is exceedingly well done. This 10” plate has two holes in the base rim for hanging if desired. In excellent condition
