HR Quimper France Beautiful Blue Bird Plate. This plate is so lovely to me. Think about it. This plate was used probably every day by someone who loved it very much. Maybe serving dinner to their sweet family, serving homemade bread, or using it to take a fresh pie they had baked to a neighbor. You can tell they cleaned it many times because the glaze has worn off the edges. Whenever I find a piece like this, I know it was genuinely loved.
This plate was made after WW1. At the conclusion of WW1, Quimper pieces destined for export were signed with the factory name and “France”. Many times these marks would wash off after time so it was hard to tell when the piece was made.
This piece has quite a bit of the glaze missing from the edges. A few chips and a bit of crazing. It measures 9 3/4” in diameter. I have priced this piece accordingly.
