Rocco Monticolo is a popular Mid-Century Modern Abstract artist from Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Italy in 1931 and came to America in 1946. He joined the USAF in 1950. He attended the Hussain School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated in 1969.
R. Monti as he is known to most of his fans and the way he signs his paintings uses vibrant tones of paint in all of his work. Monticolo's work has gained interest in the past few years and people have started buying up his work. I read a quote recently where R. Monti said, "I believe in art being used to decorate a room, not so much as a social statement, but if people see it as a statement, that's okay too. I just want them to enjoy my work. The painting dates back to the mid-1960s. R.Monti's subjects in this piece feature a man and woman holding hands and ever so lightly touching lips for their kiss. It's a sweet abstract painting but at the same time bold and meaningful.
