Antique English William Comyns Amberina Cut-Glass Porringer with Sterling Cherub Handles & Collar d.1894 (4.9oz) (W)6in. x (D)3in. x (H)1.5in. An especially rare & most impressive Piece of Antique Sterling & Glass that will certainly garner the attention and respect of many. A lovely Glass Porringer with Sterling Handles & Collar is truly the epitome of Victorian Era class & sophistication. The Antique Porringer is a product of the London based Silversmith, William Comyns. The Porringer has a production date of (1894) and is styled in strict accordance to both the Victorian artistic period; with hints of Rococo Revival being present as well. We see evidence of the Rococo influence in the way Comyns chose to design the Sterling Handle & Collar. The Handles are ornate in shape and are perhaps best described as Cherubs. The Cherub Handles & Collar are comprised of: thick, quality, [.925], English, Sterling, Silver. Comyns used a rather elegant Piece of Amberina, Cut-Glass, to form the Bowl of the Porringer. The Glass has an iridescent aspect to it, that contrasts against the light and offers a: brilliant, bright, swirling, effect. Despite the Antique Glass Porringer being nearly (130) years of age, the Piece has retained its structural integrity; as well as its aesthetics. There are no: chips, fractures, or cracks, to the Glass; nor is there any missing or damaged Sterling. The Sterling has been buffed to a proper shine, with an just a hint of Patina left to aid in illuminating the Silver. The highly coveted William Comyns "W.C." Hallmark & Stamp is vividly displayed near the Cherub, Handle. This Antique is truly a rare, Victorian, treasure, and should be recognized as such. The Antique English William Comyns Amberina Cut-Glass Porringer with Sterling Cherub Handles & Collar is stored in a: dry, secured, environment, and will without question be a most respected & welcomed addition to one's collection of quality, English, Antiques.
