This gentle, smiling faced woman has a stitch-shaped stockinette face with highly-characterized features, painted features and age lines, white mohair wig under coiffe, hollow carton torso which separates at the waist to form into a candy container, padded stockinette limbs over posable armature form. She is wearing her original artist made regional village costume of rich variegated fabrics, with coiffe and wooden clogs and is carrying a bundle of ribbon-tied flax.
She has her original Ravca paper label. Near mint condition. French, Bernard Ravca, circa 1935.
The amazing talent of Bernard Ravca in creating character faces and costumes totally accurate to the province and personality is just beginning to be more widely appreciated by collectors. It is a good time to buy them for your collections while they are still affordable.
