Vintage wicker tray with Flamingos under glass from 1920-30s still in good condition. The tray is 11 ½ inches by 17 inches and approx. two inches tall. The flamingo scene under glass is on a matte cardboard. The glass area is 10 ½ inches by 14 ½ inches. The hardwood bottom is attached to the wicker work by being sewn to the wicker work. The maker lacquered the wicker to give it a longer life. There are crocheted circles near the handles that have been lacquered , also. Flamingos became popular in the 1920s down in the Florida resorts. During the 1950s, flamingos became very popular with the middle class Americans. There were pink cars, stoves, and Refrigerators in the 50s. Elvis Presley even had his pink Cadillac. The flamingos were created in 1957 with the making of Flamingo Lawn décor. Since then, the Flamingo craze really took off. It is still very popular today. The tray is still in good condition. The thread used is still well attached with no damaged areas. The tray weighs 2 pounds and 12 ounces. Will add special handling to the shipping to make sure the postal system doesn’t wreck the tray.
