Vintage cast iron bookends representing Millet’s, “The Angelus Prayer for the Potato Crop” from 1920-40s still in good condition. The bookends are 2 ¼ inches by 4 7/8 inches and 4 5//8 inches tall. The bookends are based on a painting by Millet he did in 1857 or 1859. The cast iron is covered with a copper; Bronze wash. It has acquired a lot of patina; we did not polish this up but left the patina on. The theme of the bookends is two peasants bowing in a field over a basket of potatoes to say a prayer at the end of the day’s work. The church bells are ringing in the distance. There is no damage to this set.
