Vintage collectible award for Reserve champion bull 1948 National Angus show and sale that was awarded by the Hartford Livestock Insurance company. The award was a silver plated platter by E.G. Webster and son having a gadroon border and still being in excellent condition. The platter is 12" by 16 1/2". There is a hallmark on the bottom of the platter showing that the maker was E. G. Webster & Son. The platter still has some tarnish on the edge but originally when I purchased this at an estate auction the platter was so tarnished that it look black. On the back, there is the hallmark for E.G. Webster & son, there is a number 4417/11 and the words copper mounts. We tested the platter for sterling silver using the acid test and the magnet test. It passed both of those test for sterling silver. The platter weighs approx. 2 pounds and 5 oz. It is heavy and solid.
