Beautiful early Mason's Patent Ironstone England plate decorated in a vibrant Imari pattern featuring a pagoda, bridge and water scene. Hand-painted with cobalt blue, reddish-orange, green, yellow and gilt, this 10 3/8" plate has a quite old repair using metal staples which was a common repair method before acceptable glues were invented. The backstamp indicates that is was made c. 1825. Aside from the stapled repair there is a chip at one of the breaks and some utensil marks along with discoloring of some of the gilt. Outstanding piece for the "staple collector".
