Druzy Quartz on Matrix Display Specimen, from Missouri, Collected in the 1950s

This piece has a very small inventory number painted discreetly on it by the collector to note when it was collected in December of 1953. The 1950s are the Golden Age and Hayday of amateur geology and rockhounding. There were not the restrictions on private property that exist today, so amateur geologists were able to acquire fantastic mineral and crystal specimens from what is now private property, developed property, or restricted public lands. Per the provenance from the estate, this was collected in the 1950s from an outcrop area in Missouri where the Mineral Fork River meets Route 47. Talk about an off the beaten path discovery. This displays beautifully from any angle, under any light. The druzy quartz sparkles in minimal light as well.
