Scarce Large Meaders Pottery Urn or Milk Crock or Jug with Broken Handle identified as a Casey Meaders (1881-1945) pottery crock by his grandson and North Georgia, Cleveland, White County historical society experts. This early clay jug or urn is missing one handle, PLEASE SEE PHOTOS TO SEE MISSING HANDLE. There is also a section that has lost its glaze. THIS IS ALSO IN THE PHOTOS. The Meaders family are a prominent family of potters in Cleveland, Georgia who were self-taught folk artists. The Meaders family pottery is in the Smithsonian Institute, and in many different Georgia museums including the nearby Folk Art Museum and in the collection of the White County Historical Society. This fine work, despite its flaws was offered to us by a member of the Meaders family personally, and was also part of the area's historical society's collection.
If you love Americana, folk art, self taught artists, or pottery, consider this rare opportunity.
