Very Early Bloomberg Terminal Keyboard - "The Chiclet" made by Reuters
This is Wall Street and Manhattan history, as it is a very early Bloomberg Terminal keyboard. Ironic that in the 1980s that Bloomberg Terminal keyboard were made by a company called Rich, and Rich was a company owned by Reuters, later Thomson Reuters, a long time market data competitor to Bloomberg. This would connect to a monitor, and there was a keyboard template that would lay over these chiclet keys, and each button had a function for calculating an interest rate, dividends, a bond's pay schedule, the Bloomberg Terminal was, and remains a very sophisticated financial tool. This has a screen display on the left side that can be raised and tightened in place. Photos show the Bloomberg Terminal keyboard with that little screen down, and raised.
From the description on the Bloomberg homepage about this keyboard, "The original keyboard was hand-assembled. During the pre-Internet era, each keyboard required a special cable that ran from the user’s desks to an equipment room that contained the Bloomberg Controller and dedicated telephone lines connecting to a local network hub."
This dates from the 80s, and the tags on the bottom note various serial numbers along with its maker which is Rich, a Reuters Company.
This is a historical, nostalgic gift for a Wall Street banker or trader, and for someone interested in early computer technology as the Bloomberg Terminal was a revolutionary system in computing, banking, and finance.
