Ever since seeing "The Sound of Music" movie in the mid 1960s, I've had a passion for the songs and images depicted. The singing of the song Edelweiss brings warm thoughts and my research follows: " As a popular white flower, this blossom in the traditional language of flowers carries the symbolic meaning of innocence, purity and renewal, a fresh start, condolences or a wish for peace, elegance, honesty, and perfection." And so, my love for this song, the flower and the symbolism came alive years ago when I found this framed treasure. The frame's outer edge is about 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" of lovely carved and painted flowers. in the center, under glass, dark blue velvet cloth lies host to a collection of dried Edelweiss. As found, this has a wire on the back for hanging. Overall condition is good and if you are like me, will have you singing that song often!! "Edelweiss, Edelweiss, every morning you greet me, small and white, clean and bright, you look happy to meet me..." The end line is really needed today here in the USA...Bless my homeland forever!
