Please note: The brown outline around this dress seen in first photo is due to background showing on photo and not marks on the dress. Here is a wonderful antique child's dress in a desirable blue checked fabric. The maker of this dress was very skilled and her workmanship will be appreciated by those who value tiny stitching. This dress once belonged to a friend of mine who has since passed on to her heavenly home. She was the only child of a doctor from Lancaster County Pa. and her relatives were skilled quilters. Her mother kept the dress and I am not sure if it had been her mothers as a child or hers...but I know you will love it!! I think her mother was born in the 1880s or 90s and she was born in 1915. At any rate, the dress is darling with its high ruffled collar, long sleeves, vest like style overlay, added lace trims and hand embroidered designs on the top, sleeves and skirt. The 6 button holes in back are hand stitched as is much of the dress...a treadle machine was also used in places. The over all condition of this dress is nice and one can easily forgive the small brown marks here and there. There is also a 1/2" tear in the skirt which could easily be repaired. Most flaws are hidden in the many gathers of the dress. It is about 8 1/2" shoulder to shoulder, has a 21" waist and is 28" long. Wear it, display it or frame it... it will surely be a highlight of your collection!! Please note...child's head hanger is not included.
