For the collector of antique clothing, I offer this wonderful apron or over-skirt from the late 1800s. The background fabric is a warm toast brown color with exquisitely hand stitched embroidery work. In a light tan contrasting thread, the maker hand stitched areas of lovely flowers as well as a leafy vine design that edges three sides. There is a large area of flowers in the middle of the skirt at bottom and also one on each side of the back of apron along bottom opening. In addition, the entire border of the skirt is scalloped and hand stitched with similar stitching. The apron is about 35" long and has a 32" waist with a 7" separation in the back at waist. There is some machine stitching but much is hand stitched. Overall condition is very good with a few small holes or marks as well as one old repair. This could be used for Re-enactments and longer ties could be added for larger waists if desired. A wonderful piece of the past!!
