For the serious collector of Victorian fashions, I offer this amazing little boys dress from that era. Totally handmade of brownish velvet (with a burgundy sheen depending on the lighting), the dress is 23" long and 13" across the shoulders. There are so many unique and special features to this dress...the first one being the design itself. The skirt portion is attached to an underdress and lies in wide pleats around the bottom 7". The skirt is opened in the front center section. The dress is entirely lined with brown polished cotton sometimes referred to as chintz. There is embroidery encircling the skirt, on the pocket and the sleeve ends...all hand done! In addition, there are 18 hand stitched holes with contrasting thread where the tasseled ties go through. Finally, there are two large handmade string tassels at the bottom of the over blouse...these dangle down and hide the split in the skirt. Just a delightful outfit in very good condition. The only flaws seen are a few faint marks here and there...not hardly mentionable on a dress of this quality. I can envision a wealthy child attending a special event in this outfit along with a pair of hightop button shoes. Perhaps a large white ruffled collar would adorn the neckline...or not? Very fashionable dress!!
