Here is a very desireable sized umbrella for the collector of salesman samples or doll lovers! It is made quite well resembling a life sized umbrella from years past. The black fabric is probably silk and it has a curved wooden handle which has some carved designs. The frame is made of metal and it also has a metal tip and other metal pieces which are nailed into place. To keep it closed when not in use, it has a narrow cloth strap with a wire ring. Very well made! It does have some small holes here and there in the silk but is so wonderful, they are easily forgiven. Measuring 12 1/2" long and 12" across when opened, this is a perfect accessory for dolls or bears. Because it is well made and the fact that it has no frills often seen on doll umbrellas, plus the fact that I bought it from another antique dealer who called it a salesman sample, I believe it to be so. That could explain the holes from opening and closing through the years as the salesman traveled afar.
