For your consideration, I offer you this civil war era (or earlier) childs dress. It is made of white twill fabric which forms tiny diamonds and is trimmed with narrow white cording in a decorative fashion. The neckline is a bit curved though very wide with an 8" opening across front. Though the fabric is very sturdy, there has been some repairs made over the years as seen in several photos. There is one on the front and also one on the back along the button seam which has been repaired by adding a fabric patch. I have sewn a triangular piece on the one in front giving it a pocket look. It has been laundered and the yellowing seen in photos is gone! Dress is about 20" long and A lined in design. One button closure in back. Bottom of dress is scalloped by design.
