For your consideration, I offer this adorable pair of late 1800s or early 1900s baby shoes...most likely for a boy toddler though in those days, I'm sure both genders shared clothing. These little shoes are made of a warm- toast colored leather and have several unique features. First there is the darker brown contrasting collar around the top of the shoes...in my many years of collecting and selling baby shoes, I have not come across another pair with a collar! This feature alone most likely indicates they were geared towards a boy with a more rugged look. Next, they have brown pom-poms on the toes and lastly, the little laces have a tasseled end...one is missing. Though the shoes have been used and no doubt could tell lots of stories if only they could talk, they are still in soft and supple condition with age appropriate wear and soiling. They are 5" long x 2" wide and have cloth interiors. Very sweet!!
