Here is a wonderful crazy quilt top from the latter part of the 1800s. It has amazing handworked stitching which was used to secure one piece of fabric to the next piece. The maker skillfully incorporated many different designs including flowers, a fan, zig-zags, pin wheels, star bursts, corn shocks and many other combinations to decorate this quilt top. A variety of fabrics was used for the pieces including wools and everyday fabrics. The back is a variety of old calicos and polished cottons. You will love the variety in this crazy quilt! I have never seen one so elaborately stitched with fancy stitches!! This top measures about 88" x 66" and is in nice condition...it does have a few broken strands in the stitches here and there but these get hidden amongst the wonderment of the designs. The backing has a few small soil marks on it also. Please note: this is a quilt top which has raw edges and no permanent backing. Of course one could be added if desired. Lovely and unique quilt top!!
