This skillfully done crazyquilt square came from one Mennonite estate where only the best handwork was done. (If you have seen my other quilt listings, you know the story!) The previous owners were 2 sisters in their late eighties and early 90s...their mother and grandmother were the makers. This is in pristine condition as it was never used, just stored away for all these years. In fact, the sisters never even were aware that the quilts were in the house until the auctioneer found them in chests in the attic! What a treasure trove of wonderful old quilts, comforters, counterpanes, coverlets, rugs and mats were found...plus fabulous early cloth. So now is your chance to own a wonderfully made crazyquilt piece of fancywork...and as you can see, there is alot of fancy stitching here! The piece is about 20" square and filled with several types of stitches and designs including a lovely yellow butterfly! The deep rich colors of the velvets are stunning and the reverse side has a marvelous backing of indigo blue stripes!! Just a super piece and worthy of being framed as wall art or made into a pillow. You do not find them like this very often...pristine condition!! A true work of art!!! Sorry but my photos do not show the richness of this piece.
