A heroically staged Art Deco composition is the subject for this French Painting. Executed in oils on canvas, the artist built up the composition to feature the ceramic bowl or vase at soaring heights, metaphorically speaking. It brings to mind some of the extreme vertical devices that were used during the skyscraper period of art in the 1920’s and 30’s. The colors are bold and contrast well to add an abstract sense to the work. Although it is somewhat naive, it succeeds in its brave attempt to capture the forward futurist thinking of the Art Deco period. Think Hollywood and it’s staged sets of that period.
The 19 1/2” x 25” oil on French canvas is housed in a thin period stepped silver-leafed wood frame that compliments its Art Deco design. Overall dimensions with the frame are 21 1/2” x 27”. Both the painting and frame are in very good condition.
