Adorable carnival chalk-ware prize, flapper kewpie doll.
Dates to the 1920’s these were made to be inexpensive souvenirs of the boardwalk or carnival and their fragile plaster and paint rarely weathered the decades. Not many of them survived and they are getting harder to find today.
Written on the base: Elizabeth Cogswell 1928 Montrose Fair. (The Montrose Fair has been around since 1886).
Condition: very good condition. Some paint loss and scratches, one very small chip (see photo).
Stands 10 1/2” tall, base is 2 1/2” across.
