Offered for sale is a beautiful Chinese Export plate with gilded Famille Rose decoration made ca. 1760. This plate has a delicately scalloped rim which is encircled by two pair of rose colored stripes just inside its edge, the inner pair with a gilt stripe in its center. These stripes surround a gilded fleur de lis border which, in its turn, surrounds alternating sprigs of rose colored flowers and green twigs along its wide rim. And these sprigs surround a gilded pair of stripes and another gilded fleur de lis border which surrounds the plate’s center. Within this center is a large bouquet of gilt accented flowers and leaves, including a large Famille Rose rose along with a blue flower and many rose and violet colored flowers and buds among green leaves, all anchored around a group of 4 gilt stems and 3 gilt highlighted leaves tied together with a gilt and rose colored ribbon. This central bouquet is surrounded by 6 sprigs which mimic those on the plate’s rim. The plate, which is unmarked as expected, has some minor fritting along its outer edge. (Please see my pictures.) There are no repairs on this plate, and it has only minimal wear to its decoration from use and age. It is a twin to my Inventory #19397, though its price reflects its condition relative to its twin.
