Offered for sale is a lovely trio of footed Chinese Export soup plates, each with matching Famille Rose decoration and made ca. 1770. Each plate has an octagonal “cut corner” rim encircled by a brown ribbon on its rim and highlighted by an undulating ribbon of deep rose overlapping a narrow round ribbon of famille rose, with segments of this design enhanced with various floral vignettes. This border slopes to the edge of each soup bowl. There is a chain and petal design in deep rose encircling the highest point of the soup bowl. This chain sits above a central bouquet with a large rose and tulip predominant, surrounded by smaller deep rose and burnt orange colored flowers, all amongst green leaves. The entire bouquet seems to be spreading out above 3 or 4 very thin stems. Only the third plate pictured has a bouquet that seems to be of interest to two buzzing insects.
There are no marks on the plates, as expected. Each plate rim has very small rim chips from use, and I have included close-up pictures of some of them. There are no repairs or restorations, and only minimal wear from use and age on each of them. Additional pictures will be supplied upon request.
