This 1920s dress is the cat's pajamas. The original slip is included, and the coloring is very special. The dress is comprised of printed silk chiffon that has strips of shiny silk velvet. The ethnic print has motifs that look like plant matter and feathers. Around the dropped waist line is silk woven cording, and on the left are two beautiful tassels with beads that measure 20 inches long. On the shoulders there are little silk velvet pieces that cover and cut out. The dress is a totally straight construction and there is no label. The original slip is included, the top portion is sheer, the body is thicker pewter silk with snap side closures, and the bottom 10 inches are velvet. There is some wear to this piece under the arms, but in general both pieces are in excellent condition. The dress itself has some holes in the chiffon, similar to what happens to a silk scarf. There are no major holes or tears in the dress itself. It measures approximately 39 inches long, it does taper slightly where the cording is and measures 36 inches wide. At the bust line it is approximately 40 inches wide. The original stops are in the shoulders for the slip to be attached. Some of the silk thread in the tassels is slightly unraveling and there is a basting stitch on the one side to hold in part of the cording. This piece is so much better in person, the photos just don't do the fabric justice.
