This solid gold moth or bug brooch or dress clip is made of 18k yellow gold and was designed by the Italian jewelry designer Mario Buccellati. Similar pins sell online for over $10,000. This pin is marked on the back for the designer, date, and metal content. The name M. Buccellatti is etched into the rear of the right wing in his typical signature style. It is also marked '-96' presumably for the year 1996, and 750 which denotes 18 yellow gold. The piece weighs 9.7 grams, the wingspan measures 1 3/8", and the body measures 1" long. The pin back is a two pronged hinged back that works well. It almost looks like the body could be made of rose gold or some other colored metal, and there are some colored gold striations in the wings as well. The bug is intricately detailed down to the fuzzy antenna and stinger on the underside.
This piece is in amazing condition with only minor wear on the underside. There is a gray spot under the head that may be a small repair, I have not polished this at all, please view the photos. This is a great deal for a beautiful piece, perfect for a gift! Please view all photos prior to purchasing and check out our other designer pieces listed on eBay.
