This antique Victorian real scarab beetle stick pin exemplifies the Victorians' interest in the natural world. The 19th century was a time for classifying and naming all sorts of plants, flowers, and insects. The beauty of the pin comes from the scarab's iridescent greenish-black color and the texture of its exoskeleton. The beetle is a great green color and it has a bumpy texture. The bar of the pin measures 2 inches and 11mm and the scarab measures 0.75" x 0.5". Total the piece is 3.25 inches long. It has a closure on it, but we are unsure if it is original. It is not stamped. The beetle is in excellent condition and the stick pin has kept its straight shape perfectly. It is not stamped gold, but it does look to have a rose gold shade. It weighs 3.5 grams.
