In excellent antique condition, this circa 1910 sterling and lapis ring is absolutely gorgeous. A finely detailed dragon is depicted in silver relief around the shank of this beautifully crafted antique ring. The piece of lapis at the center is beautifully carved into a floral looking motif. This is an unusual piece of lapis because the face is unpolished. The crystal material over top give the ring an ethereal look. You can still see dramatic bits of cobalt shining through.
This ring is a size 4.5 but could be sized easily. It is marked 'STERLING' in the interior back of the band, and the band has only very minor wear and is still thick enough to wear comfortably. weighs 6.9 grams, and measures just under 1" from the back of the band to the top of the face. The lapis piece measures exactly 3/4" x 1/2" and is securely set in sterling (some wiggling, but not in danger of falling out). The lapis face is roughly carved and uneven around the edges, so the setting is also not uniformly oval to reflect this. It looks like the sterling was hand worked and the lapis was hand set. I have not cleaned this piece at all. The sterling has a beautiful patina quality that could probably be polished to brighten up if you'd prefer a shinier look.
