This large copper and brass tea kettle is a hand made antique. It is marked with a number 6 on the lid as shown in the 2nd to last picture. Looking at the bottom the seam where it is put together can be seen running along the edge. Looking closely I can see that it is dovetiled but it is hard to tell. The dovetail construction can also be seen on the back of the pot below the handle. This kettle has a unique, attractively designed, stationary brass handle and brass edge applied to the rim. The lid has two small steam holes and a brass knob. This is a rather large pot measuring approximately 13 inches from the tip of the goose neck spout to the opposite end of the handle. The pot itself is about 6 inches tall. With the handle it stands around 10½ inches high. I do not know the age of this pot for sure but based on the construction and style I believe it most likely dates to sometime between the mid 18th and early 19th centuries. The pot has some dents and discolorations. There is also some green oxidation on the exterior and mineral deposits on the interior. We have not cleaned this kettle. We are leaving it up to the new owner to clean it if (and to what extent) he or she desires to do so. Overall this is a beautiful and rare antique tea kettle.
