This hand painted porcelain plate has a Nervi Austria mark on the bottom. It features an eyecatching and distinctive design in bold colors. In the center is a medallion of purple flowers with green and brown leaves on an orangish red background. A gold line distinguishes this medallion from the rest of the design. Large light yellow and orangish red leaves form a ring encircling the medallion. They are on a black ground. The black is covered in small gold spirals. The flowers and leaves are all enhanced with gold decoration as well. The whole design works well and is quite attractive. The plate has a gold trimmed scalloped edge. This plate is in good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs found.
Most of the few pieces of Nervi porcelain I have seen in this design were identified as having been imported by the PH Leonard Company. This importer had a store in New York City from 1890 to 1908.
This antique plate would add a striking and unique element to a rooms decor or to a plate collection.
