Arcade manufactured this x-ray coffee grinder around 1900. The wood has a nice dark patina and and all corners have machine made dovetails. The cast iron is black and free of rust. The wooden handle is in excellent condition. The cast iron in this piece has the attractive, ornate scrollwork typical of arcade. There are a few spots of green paint. The mechanism has a little wear but works well. Overall this is a very attractive coffee grinder. It has a brass tag that says 'this is from the famous old Windsor Hotel Denver Colorado'. This tag was on the grinder when i acquired it and I can not verify it's authenticity. I did research the Windsor hotel and found its contents were auctioned off in 1959 before it was demolished in 1960. That could be where this grinder came from but that is speculation. The coffee receptacle is 7 1/2 inches long and 3 5/8 deep. The overall length is approximately 12 inches and the width is 4 5/8.
