This stoneware jug is ovoid shaped and dates to the first half of the 19th century. The glazed sides and the unglazed bottom are both dark tan in color. There is a large yellowish area on the body of the piece. The clay used appears to have had inclusions. This lead to a somewhat rough surface and there are some burst bubbles. The surface texture, coloration, and shape give this jug an attractive appearance. It has one chip on the lip but is in good condition otherwise. There is a clump of mud stuck inside the jug but it does not effect it. This would be a nice addition to a stoneware collection or an appealing piece to add personality to a room.
