The most unusual and rare honey/jam pot you ever saw, executed in the form of a honey bee it was created in 1957 by the most important silver plating company in British history, Elkington and Co. The company was established in 1836 in Birmingham as a company of silversmiths and experimented profoundly in improving gilding techniques. In 1838 they discovered and patented electroplating and, by 1840, started production, after that, they became the leader in silver-plating.
This stunning honey pot is fully marked and also equipped with a sterling silver spoon, the glass body of a deep olive green colour is handblown. The honey pot is made with great attention to detail and expert craftsmanship. The marking letter places this beauty to 1957. The metal parts of the pot are sterling silver plating, the spoon is solid sterling silver, fully hallmarked.
Condition: superb vintage condition, the pot was cherished and hardly used (if ever), just very light patina marks here and there and some very minor scuff marks, mainly visible on the back of the wings. The glass body is free of any damages, except of some scratches? or maybe slight imperfections that happened during the glass blowing process at the very bottom of the Bee body, not visible when the pot is displayed please see a picture with a close shot, but there are no cracks or chips. There are no dents on the silver parts.
This unusual and highly collectible piece will delight any collector or make happy anybody if presented as a gift (imagine it to be a wedding present!)

Measurements:
Spoon: L 4 5/16"
The Bee: L 7" x H 3.5" the width of the widest part of the wings is 3 5/16"
