West by Southwest Fine & Folk Art
is now SOLDNavajo Weaver Unknown, Bless Our Home pictorial rug. Pictorial rugs are a special form of Navajo rug in which weavers typically display aspects of their daily lives. In this colorful rug, the weaver shows a Navajo home on the reservation, including two homes, cattle and sheep, and three people in a sunny, blue sky, desert landscape. Size: 18" H x 16.25" W.
Pictorial rugs take a lot of skill because they are paintings in woven wool. No pictorial rug looks like any other: each is a one-of-a-kind vision from a Navajo weaver. Though many pictorial rugs depict scenes from Navajo daily life, each is, by its nature, unique. These are my favorite rugs, and in this smaller size, perfect for a collector who would like to fill a small space, or display a collection with other pieces on a single wall.
CONDITION: Excellent. Rug shows no signs of wear. No damage or repairs.
Exceptional value for a disappearing art form.
