Stunning portrait of a stylish young lady, oil on canvas executed in the Continental style, dated "15 September 1881" verso on the frame. A beautiful young woman gazes with amusement at the viewer. She is fastening her glove, and a gold wrist watch bracelet hangs from her wrist. Though the painter is unknown, the skill of the artist is evident in the evocative expression and luminosity of the woman's face. The photos, though accurate, do not capture the full loveliness of this painting. Sight: 30 1/2" H x 24 1/2" W. Framed: 39" H x 33" W. Frame is new, made of solid wood.

CONDITION: Excellent, particularly for a nearly 140 year old painting. Cleaned about 10 years ago. Paint shows some areas of craquelure and one spot of inpainting on her left hand that is not visible with the naked eye. No other damage or repairs.
