An elegant floral pastel by an accomplished Hoosier colony artist. The piece is in its original period frame that has been re-gilded. It has been framed with an acid-free matte behind museum glass and is ready to hang.

Winifred "Winnie" H. Harvey was born in 1891 in Muncie, Indiana. She began painting in 1930 as a hobby but her talent received such praise that she sought to become a professional artist. She studied under Wayman Adams, George Mock, Eliot O'Hara, Jerry Farnsworth, and John Herron at Ball State University. Harvey experimented with watercolor and oils but it is her floral studies in pastel that she is most known for.

She exhibited regularly at galleries in Indiana and at the Hoosier Salon from 1940 through the early 1960s. In 1945, she was awarded 1st Prize at the Hoosier Salon for her pastel entitled "Petunias". She has won upwards of 13 prizes. Her paintings continue to be shown in Indiana Galleries. In 1994, 75 of her paintings were on display at Legacy of Beauty held in Muncie at Minnmetrista Cultural Center.
