A poetic tonal landscape by talented Pennsylvania Impressionist Mary Pemberton Ginther. The beautiful swerve of the brook in the foreground leads us deeper into the tranquil landscape. It is in excellent condition, freshly conserved and in an elegant arts and crafts frame. It is ready to hang.
Mary Pemberton Ginther was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Philadelphia School of Design for Women. During her lifetime, Ginther exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy, the Philadelphia Art Club, and the Plastic Club. She worked in oil, pastel, and charcoal to create a variety of subject matter including landscapes, still lifes, and figurative works. In addition, she was a designer, illustrator, and author. She designed stained glass windows for the Church of Restoration (Philadelphia), and St. John's Church (Suffolk, VA). Ginther wrote and illustrated books for girls including the titles "Bethanne", "Hilda Series", and "The Jade Necklace".
