Fine men's ring set with a Zambian emerald weighing over 10ct and diamonds weighing 0.8ctw in 22k.
A 1970s style taking a big stone and setting it a la cabochon, this is a very unique make.
The Zambian emerald has a special cut, with primitive faceting at its face and completely level at its back.
When we first got this ring, we were struck by how fluid-like the emerald displays, as if its organic facets had something to do with it.
The clean facets work magic in this stone. You can look into the stone, where it looks dark green at one angle, and become light sensitive in another.
The curves of this ring are magnificent. The ring will mould to any finger shape, in part because its form is built around the stone, right down to a sliver of diamonds arranged in each crescent.
It is not a sculptural ring, yet its contours are deliberate.
The stone is precious enough to warrant its make in 22k, even if the white gold tone is plated over the actual yellow gold.
This two tone delineation and the eccentricity of the stone are aspects which give the ring a surrealist modernity.
The ring's face measure 21mm by 19mm.
