Early to mid century Chinese pendant set with an old cut emerald and diamonds in 20k.
The emerald on this pendant is very distinct, not just clean but cut with a big table like an emerald cut. Its unique cut displays the stone as if glass, and in an emerald with a beautiful hue as this, rare.
The careful craftsmanship in the pendant applies the emerald as if about to pop, that little bit of pushing the stone into the diamond halo makes the clear emerald infinitely lustrous.
Typically when all the weight of an emerald is at its top the stone loses its color. This is not the case in this emerald, measuring 10.4mm by 7mm, all of its color strong and watery at once.
It is very tedious to set the baguette diamonds in the contours of its gold bezel, the wavy curves are a challenge and the baguettes are small!
Even the profile of the pendant is good looking.
There is very fine craftsmanship in this pendant, of stone and stature.
The pendant is 2cm tall and 1.2cm across, considered a small pendant, that displays its stone exquisitely.
Unmarked, but acid tests as 20k gold.
The chain necklace is sold separately.
