Having defeated and assimilated all their neighbors, they challenged and initially defeated their English allies with the massacre at Islandlwana and the legendary attack at Roark’s Drift in which 139 British soldiers stood against 4500 Zulu warriors. This love letter was probably brought back by a British soldier as a souvenir of the War.
