This is such a wonderful ring. I am always thrilled to find something this early, that appears all original, and is in this good a shape. This ring is circa 1640 and it features a table cut rock crystal. The crystal takes on a blue look, but the stone itself is not quite as blue as it appears in this photo, because it Is a rock crystal and it takes on the color of what is around it. The stone does have a bluish gray hue, however. It is set in very high carat gold, It is unmarked but tested, and my tester goes no further than 18 carat, but I suspect the gold in this ring is higher than 18 carat, It features a high raised setting, typical of this period. It is closed backed, and a size 7 and 1/2, and it weighs 4,09 grams. It is in amazing condition for its age. What a lovely piece of history this is!
