This is a lovely, circa 1800 ring that I was told by the English dealer from whom I bought it, is a memorial ring. That could well be the case because of the white enamel (often in memorial jewelry, white enamel signifies an unmarried person), but there is no hair, no engraving, etc or nothing else other than the white enamel surrounding the blue enamel, that marks this as a memorial piece. I think this one being a memorial ring is up for debate, though we can never know for sure. What we do know is that is fashioned from 18 carat gold, (unmarked but tested) contains a genuine ruby and two diamonds,, (also tested) and features a small seed pearl circle surrounding the rub, which sits on a bed of blue enamel. The ring has a lovely split shank, and there is also an extra piece of gold on the inside of the shank. That could have been used as a sizer, or as a reinforcement. The ring is in excellent , wearable condition. The ring is a size 7 and 1/2 to 7 and 3/4, and it weighs 3.58 grams.
