This is a beautiful Georgian (CA 1800) sentiment ring featuring natural pearls, a garnet, and human hair. All jewelry containing hair is not mourning jewelry. Locket items of jewelry were often exchanged between lovers, husbands and wives, mothers and children, etc. I see no engraving on this ring, nor black, so I assume it was a sentimental piece given to a loved one. It has a lovely clamshell design on each shoulder, and a beautiful split shank. The ring is fashioned from unmarked but tested 14 carat gold and , is a size 6 and 3/4 to 7, but could be resized, carefully, but only by someone used to working with antique hair jewelry. The ring weighs 2.80 grams, and is in excellent condition. I especially like the unusual shape of the top of the ring.
